Happy Pitch Tycoon Barnaby, the ginger cat

Devlog

What changed in each build of the demo, newest first.

15 October 2026 — Clearer pitch upgrades, starter food and visitor stamps (web.50)

Pitch upgrades now wait until a pitch is empty, with separate tent and touring options in matching pixel menus. Hardstanding belongs to touring pitches and never adds a caravan to a tent pitch.

  • Save-for targets clear after a successful purchase and stay pinned while planning or when a build fails.
  • A £140 Food Stall and £100 Ice Cream Cart are available from grade one in Build > Amenities. Both work without mains power, include first stock, and sell affordable food, drinks and treats with normal pricing and deliveries.
  • The Visitor Book has 24 individual picture stamps, collection hints, visible event award stamps and set rewards. Use the visitor sighting button to find a gold star, then tap it to collect.
  • Visitor sightings, stamps, food stock and pitch upgrades survive saving and resuming. Older saved event results restore missing stamp entries.

15 October 2026 — Festival tents and a breeze through the trees (web.49)

Build a striped Entertainment Tent from grade two, or a Festival Dance Tent from grade three. Connect a path and power, then guests can queue, pay admission and enjoy a break from boredom.

  • The Festival Dance Tent links to Trance EDM HQ, Deep House Music HQ and Arcade Synth Beats. Open its building panel to discover the channels.
  • Both venues have native pixel art, running costs and saved income. Keep them away from sleeping pitches: music affects nearby quiet.
  • A selection of trees now sways gently at the canopy. Trunks stay planted, and pause or reduced-motion settings keep them still.
  • Holy Hand reactions now play one at a time, with old or slow-loading clips cancelled when the next reaction begins.

15 October 2026 — A new soundtrack and voices for the park (web.48)

Celestial Motif joins the normal gameplay playlist as its opening track, alongside every existing park tune.

  • Holy Hand grabs and throws now use recorded guest voices, with three grab takes and two takes each of the happy and protesting flight reactions. Grass landings and pond splashes use the supplied recordings too.
  • Recorded leaf rustles, comic tree boings and groans, grass-seed scattering, RC car and truck motors, and drone buzzing replace their temporary synth sounds.
  • Click the church in Holy mode to play the two supplied church-rock songs in turn. Click again for the cathedral music; leave Holy mode to resume the previous park soundtrack.
  • All 23 supplied files are installed. Church music follows volume, mute and pause controls, and stays separate from the normal playlist.

15 October 2026 — Better building, fresh grass and little wheels (web.47)

Building previews now match their finished position and size. Signposts can be moved onto their green dots, service-mode bulldozing protects the objects above pipes, WiFi points are smaller, and blue-badge bays join neighbouring roads or paths.

  • New Grass Seed in Build ▸ Grounds repairs worn grass for £6 a square over two game days. Reseeding progress survives saves.
  • Guests use radio-controlled cars, monster trucks and drones in the Fun Zone during dry daylight, with visible controllers and native pixel toys.
  • Sheep click targets follow the sprites at every zoom. Double-click or double-tap to shoo them; they run off the screen.
  • Thunder follows lightning flashes. Holy Hand throws, water landings and tree clicks now have sound effects, with occasional silly tree reactions.
  • Click the church in Holy mode to switch to rock music. New guest recordings and an original church-rock song are awaiting production; built-in effects and an existing rock track cover them for now.

15 October 2026 — A fairer park and a longer campaign (web.46)

Running a good campsite now matters more, with clearer goals and regular choices along the way.

  • Opening checks every built tap, shower and drain. Mains connections can route around obstacles, and disconnected disposal points cannot supply a live drain.
  • Events need real attendance, working preparation and completed services. Rally caravans count after check-in and setup; its deadline is clearly two days.
  • Working boat jetties and stocked fishing pegs count towards park grades. Guest averages need seven recorded days.
  • Three stars is a milestone. Win Somerset with five stars and seven consecutive stable trading days; the HUD and Roadmap share that goal.
  • Choose a short-break promotion or service pledge every four days, with visible costs, targets and deadlines. Plan ahead for routine bills, deliveries, wear and the next event.
  • Visitor demand now responds to high prices even in winter. Party prices cover extra guests, and the economy has been tested against explicit starter-profit targets. Higher grades earn more visitor enquiries to support a larger park.

15 October 2026 — Real pitch capacity and clearer finances (web.45)

Your camping plots now set the park's capacity, and keeping essential services clean and working matters.

  • Marked pitches take one party each. Unmarked camping areas need whole plots with clear gaps between them.
  • Cleanliness reflects toilets, showers and pitches. New arrivals pause when no clean working toilet or drinking-water tap is available, with advice on how to recover.
  • Finance separates cash flow from operating profit and includes stock, deliveries, chef wages, groundskeeping and interest.
  • Nightly pitch fees appear in income charts and pitch earnings. Interest is paid once, and saved offline earnings use settled profit.
  • Existing guests are preserved when an older park is loaded.

Rare campsite moments and 26 new voice recordings

Ten small campsite gags join the park, alongside another batch of Barnaby's recorded lines.

  • An occupied rocking Porta-Loo, shower singer, missing BBQ matches, optimistic sun cream, rainbows and guest banter
  • Each eligible gag rolls at about 1 in 200 game-days, with no more than one per day; the right facilities, guests, working connections and weather must be present
  • Daily rolls and history survive saves, while temporary effects clear safely on load or restart
  • 26 supplied Barnaby recordings are wired, bringing the available voices to 60; larger tent, food and wildlife set pieces are on the roadmap
  • Includes the service exit, menu layering, inspection status, surrounding farmland and Holy music improvements from web.43

Clear service exits, inspection status and countryside fields

Several playtest fixes make building, checking your park and backing it up clearer.

  • Done with services and Escape restore the normal view even when the bank is empty
  • Bank and management cards have solid backgrounds; inspectors step aside while menus are open
  • A blue inspection info button shows your current score, likely award and what to improve using the official scoring calculation
  • Joined native pixel hedges divide the surrounding countryside into fields beyond all purchasable land
  • Save and Download Save File use reliable button and keyboard activation, validate exports and show failures clearly
  • Holy mode plays Silent Cathedral, then resumes the previous music; the mower and three supplied tips remain wired

Proper mud

Mud now spreads like mud.

  • Muddy patches join up into one field of mud instead of a separate splodge on every square, with ragged edges that fade into the grass
  • Tyre tracks run through the deep mud, there are boot prints, and tufts of grass survive in the trampled bits
  • In the rain the mud turns dark and glossy, puddles collect in the low spots and reflect the sky, and the tyre tracks fill with water
  • Mud no longer spills across the lane outside the park
  • On hilly parks the mud follows the slopes without gaps

Pixel mud, smaller puppets and advice at the right time

The campsite's art and comments now fit what you've actually built.

  • Mud has broken pixel edges, grass gaps, tractor ruts and small rain puddles, replacing solid brown tile blocks
  • Sheep have native pixel-art walking frames, and the Punch & Judy booth is smaller with its puppets lined up to the new window
  • Barnaby's tips, voice lines, guest comments and wishes check the park's unlocks and facilities; cassette advice waits until touring accommodation is in use
  • Guests have no WiFi meter or WiFi complaints before a point is installed. Afterwards, unconnected equipment and missing coverage have different comments
  • Native pixel sprites keep their size during placement; the art and mud remain correct after saving and loading

Mud, puddles and nature calls

The Muddy Field finally lives up to its name, and your guests have opinions about it.

  • A new park starts properly muddy: ruts along the lane where everyone turns in, and soggy hollows across the field. Rain makes it deeper and spreads it; in the rain the mud goes dark and puddles form. Lay paths and it goes away
  • Guests react as they squelch through: "My new trainers!" Children, on the other hand, love a puddle
  • When the loos let them down (none built, none working, or the queue's too long), guests nip behind the nearest bush, hedge or tree. Discreetly. Other guests may notice, and Barnaby will ask for more toilets
  • Bulldozing now goes up in a puff of pixel dust
  • The "Small fire!" emergency is now a proper pixel-art flame, and an overflowing bin has a heap of rubbish on the lid and a fly buzzing round it
  • Once your park can open, the Open Park sign stands beside the Build menu instead of hiding behind it, and choosing Bulldoze from the Services view keeps the see-through view and your pipes on screen
  • New on the Coming soon list: dogs on site with a dog-walking area, earnable mouse pointers, and turning the park to see it from every side

Clearer bulldozing, fairer prices and the inspector explained

Small things that make building less fiddly and the money make more sense.

  • Bulldozing shows exactly what a click will remove: it's outlined in red with a label, such as "Bulldoze: Water Pipe (+£1)". A pipe under a path is cleared before the path, and now you can see that coming
  • Things you can't remove (an occupied pitch, the council's road) show in grey with the reason
  • Prices follow a proper ladder, so bigger buildings cost more than small fittings: the Arcade is now £2,400, the Shop £900, the Play Park £800 and the Pool £6,000; the Cricket Pitch (£4,500) now costs more than the Football Pitch (£3,000); the Vending Machine is £200 and the Wood Bin £30. Anything you've already built keeps its old refund
  • A small "i" beside the monthly inspection (Park Grades, and the countdown in the goal bar) explains it: the inspector visits on day 30 of every month, how the score is made up, and what Gold, Silver and Bronze pay
  • Fixed: a vending machine, bin, lamp or tree beside the front of a big building, such as the reception hut, was drawn behind its walls

Hedgerows that meet properly

The countryside's hedges are now one kind of hedge, and they join up wherever they meet.

  • The old field hedgerows use the same hedge as the lane and your own hedges, with proper corners, T-junctions and crossings
  • Across the lane, a field hedge now meets the roadside hedge in a neat T instead of running over it to the tarmac
  • Wild trees on a hedge line stand in the hedge, like a real hedgerow, instead of leaving a gap
  • Plant your own hedge up to a field boundary and it joins the hedgerow
  • Where hedges of different sizes cross, each line keeps its own size, and small hedges now make a continuous line (they used to leave gaps)

New statics, decking, phones and the park's name in the grass

Your park, your way, and a first go at playing on a phone.

  • Three new static caravans, old to new: a Seventies classic with brown stripes (cheap, a bit dated), a Sage country static with green cladding, and a Modern lodge-style static in charcoal and timber for top-end guests
  • Decking: add a timber deck to any static when you buy it, or later by clicking the caravan. Higher rent, better appeal and happier guests
  • Mown lettering: buy the ride-on mower, then cut HAPPY PITCH or your park's own name into the grass (Manage ▸ Grounds). Pitches nearby get a better view
  • Hedges and bushes join up into corners, T-junctions and crossings, so you can hedge round every pitch. Single pieces turn with R
  • Turn the small things: vending machines, taps, bins, lamps, the Porta-Loo and more face whichever way you like (R, or Turn in the info card)
  • Phones and tablets: drag to move round the park, pinch to zoom, a slimmer top bar, menus that fit the screen and a Done button to put a tool down
  • Fixed: guests walking in front of a new hedge were drawn behind it; the church was drawn over guests on the lane and swallowed clicks meant for pitches beside it; rain fell in slow motion at normal speed and the top bar could show Sunny while it rained

Money that matters, fields to buy and guests who stay

The biggest change yet to how the park pays its way.

  • Guests now pay for every night they stay, and the park pays its running costs every night: rates, water and power for every guest, upkeep and wages. Each day ends with your takings, costs and profit
  • Price with care: a little over the odds is fine, but charge far too much and bookings dry up and guests ask for refunds
  • Unhappy guests pack up early and stop paying. Dirty loos, no food and nothing to do now cost you money, not just stars
  • Fields to buy. Your park starts in the Home Field on the lane; the fields around it are hedged off with a FOR SALE board. Two across the lane, one beside the cider orchard, go on sale at Holiday Park
  • Copses of wild trees to clear before you build. Keep a few: trees make the best views
  • Guests are saved with your park, so you come back to a busy park, not an empty field. A Welcome back card shows your next goal
  • Blue-badge parking, Close for works (take part of the park out of use while you change it) and a banner plane you can hire to advertise
  • New pixel art for the water supply, waste mains and grey water point; the start screen, tutorial and Barnaby's popups get the new look
  • Fixed: a flickering guest panel, menus running off short screens, and tents left behind after reloading
  • Playtest fixes: the tutorial now starts in a field full of trees, vandals can be chased off with a click and stop after a few incidents, police and burglary costs show in your accounts, and Barnaby tells you what made guests leave early. Guests now drink from any tap they walk past and finish their trip to the tap, so a tap beside the loos keeps everyone happy, and a long loo queue is blamed on the loos, not the water
  • Your rating starts at 0% and is earned: points for a toilet, a piped tap, pitches, a shower, food and something to do, then for keeping it all clean and running. Manage ▸ Rating shows what you have and what's missing. New parks still get curious first guests while the reviews come in
  • Smoother with a busy park: guests are drawn without making the browser re-measure the page for each one, and night-time guest thinking costs half as much. Manage ▸ Finance now uses plain words, quest rewards and refunds show in the accounts, selling things or taking a loan no longer counts as profit, and today's accounts survive a reload

Flagpoles, a calmer pace and a big bug squashed

A fix that matters, and a few things that are just for fun.

  • Fixed: after a long session, clicking to build could stop doing anything. Things now place properly however long you play
  • Flagpoles. Fly the Union Flag, England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland, Somerset's dragon, flags from across Europe, the USA and Canada, or Barnaby's and Happy Pitch's own. Double-click a pole to change the flag; guests walking past have something to say
  • A calmer pace: a day at normal speed now takes 75 seconds instead of 50. Use 2x and 4x when you want to get on
  • Hide Barnaby with the little button on his corner. He slides off and peeks in from the edge, and a "!" tells you when he has news
  • Wide paths and roads join up properly now, with no little patches of grass where four squares meet
  • Fits smaller laptop screens: a slimmer top bar and a Build menu that shows more at once
  • Paths and roads in the Build menu show a proper strip of the surface

Visitors from space and a new look

Run a really good park and word gets around. A long way around.

  • Space guests. Keep your rating at 75% or more and now and then a little flying saucer lands by the entrance, or a party beams in on a path. They book a pitch like anyone else, pay in space gold and leave reviews from home
  • Every menu redrawn in the park's own pixel style: Build, Zones, Manage, Shopping, the shop screens, the bank, the top bar, and an Open Park sign on a post
  • When something can't be built, the game now says why, and a little tag by the cursor tells you before you click
  • Hills: taps, bins, lamps and other small things can stand on gentle slopes. Tents fit on gentle slopes on the bigger family pitch; caravans and statics still need level ground. Sloping ground holds fewer pitches, so levelling pays off
  • Busy parks show every guest. Before, only the first 20 people were drawn
  • More birds, and they turn up sooner
  • Barnaby only moves his mouth when he's actually speaking
  • Fixed on hills: guests turning back and forth, getting stuck, and all falling asleep in a heap by the toilets at night

The country bus, statues and birdsong

This one is about making the park feel lived in. Here's a quick video from the new build: a thunderstorm, and everyone running for cover.

A Happy Pitch Tycoon park in a thunderstorm, with the bus at its stop

The video loads from YouTube when you press play.

  • A country bus. Build a stop beside the lane and the little green bus calls three times a day. Guests without a car hop off and walk in
  • Statues: a bronze hare, a golden cider apple and Barnaby himself. Nearby pitches get a better view, and guests stop to admire them
  • A cider apple orchard next door. Blossom in spring, apples in autumn
  • Birds. Robins, blackbirds and pigeons hop between the trees, and starlings fly over
  • Crickets on warm nights
  • Barnaby moves his mouth when he talks, and blinks
  • Pipes and cables now go under things you've already built
  • Fixed: you could build on top of hedges and flowers. Found by our youngest play-tester

Shopping trips

The Shopping menu is open. Three trips, each with levels to buy as the park grows.

  • The wholesaler: cheaper stock, cheaper deliveries, a Bulk order, a catering kit and proper mops
  • Rusty's Resales: pre-loved statics on the cheap. They break down now and then
  • Premium Caravan Sales: white statics with decking, and a lodge with its own hot tub
  • The DIY store: a paint brush. Match your colours and guests like it. Clash and they don't
  • The Punch & Judy booth has a proper swazzle now. Click it to hear the show
  • The shop signs and the hot-tub lodge are redrawn to match the rest of the park
  • Cleaners work much faster. They had been taking the long way round to every bit of litter
  • Cleaners pick up litter they walk past
  • Guests top up on food, drink and the loo sooner, so they stay happier through a long stay
  • Long grass now shows on the map, so you can see where to mow
  • Hills now ask before starting you a fresh park
  • Tidier menus. Opening a shop closes the Shopping menu, and the caravan chooser gets out of the way once you've placed one
  • Fixed: statics you built never got any guests. Now they fill up, nicest first
  • Fixed: after Quit to Main Menu the arrow keys stopped working

Bikes, buskers and rock mode

A big one. Guests can now get out and about, and the park got louder.

  • Cycle hire. Guests rent bikes and ride round the park (the odd wobble included)
  • Red cycle paths. Riders prefer them
  • Entertainers you can hire. Click one and they play you a song
  • 🎸 Rock Music mode in the menu. Barnaby approves
  • A new chill track, “Warm Focus”
  • A proper Somerset fingerpost to put by your paths
  • See-through mode for laying pipes and cables in a busy park
  • Foxes, cows and friends now run off when you shoo them
  • Guests’ speech bubbles show up again

Also trying something new: hills. Turn on Settings ▸ ⛰️ Hills before starting a park and the ground rolls a bit, with little ponds in the dips. Raise, lower and level it to make room to build. It’s experimental, so tell me what breaks.

British weather and Punch & Judy

  • Proper British weather: sun, cloud, grey days, rain, storms, and snow in winter
  • Guests run for cover when a storm rolls in
  • A Punch & Judy show. Guests gather round and pay into the hat
  • Kitchens with menus and chefs
  • Stock runs out. Weekly deliveries, and yes, SOLD OUT signs
  • Guests have ages now, and kids, teens and grandparents want different things
  • A new pixel-art start screen
  • More voices at reception, and more of Barnaby’s jokes
  • Fixes from play-testing: the tutorial starts properly and the entrance gate sits under your cursor

Mucky toilets matter

  • Bins fill up and overflow if nobody empties them
  • Dirty toilets and full bins put guests off nearby pitches

The full Somerset game

The demo is now expanded, set in Somerset. Buildings unlock as your park grade rises and stay out of reach until you can afford them.

  • Grade-earned unlocks replace the old demo locks
  • Electric hook-ups
  • The bus stop works
  • Winning no longer ends the game, so you can keep building afterwards
  • Entrance grades: Derelict (£40), Second-hand (£100) and New (£250). They change your rating and bookings, and you can upgrade a gate later
  • Stock and prices for vending machines, the shop, burger van and chip shop, with better products at higher grades
  • A calmer game speed: 1× now runs at 60% of the old pace
A full park in build web.17

Sound and Barnaby's voice

A new audio system for the world: ambient sounds, effects and hooks for Barnaby's voice lines, recorded in ElevenLabs. There's also an in-game roadmap panel under Manage, so you can see what's coming.

Mowers, mini golf and torchlight

  • A bowling green and a mini golf course
  • A mower you drive yourself, and a garden shed to keep it in
  • Lamps, bollard lights and torches that light up at night
  • Kites, pixel fences, and service buildings drawn at their true size
  • New staff and wildlife art
  • Zoom, top bar, message and zone fixes, and cars now keep left
The bowling green, mini golf and play park

Enhanced public demo

  • A shorter tutorial
  • A skip button for the tutorial
  • Barnaby's voice-over and more sounds
  • A quicker start before the menu appears
  • A fix for public roads appearing when the window changed size

Next up: a park for everyone (ramps, accessible toilets, benches), other UK regions and plenty more from Barnaby. Follow along on the Discord.
